Waitlist open · iOS beta 2026

Edit videos on your phone in minutes, with AI.

Drop your clips in and tell edie what you want. It builds a real cut on a real timeline: trims, captions, music on the beat. Then it hands the timeline back for you to finish yourself.

iOS beta. One email when it opens, no newsletter.

  • No watermark on any plan
  • The full editor is free
  • Your footage stays on your phone

01The gap

You shoot on your phone. You should be able to finish on it.

AI editing has arrived on every screen except the one your footage is already sitting on.

Desktop only

AI editors

The tools where an AI actually builds the cut run on a desktop, in a browser, at professional prices. To use one, you first have to get the footage off your phone.

AI as a feature

Phone editors

The popular mobile editors ship AI one feature at a time: auto-captions, a background remover, a noise filter. You still make every cut yourself.

Both, on your phone

edie

A real editor and an AI working the same timeline, side by side on your iPhone. Both stay on screen, so you are never switching between them.

02How it works

Four steps, and you own the last one.

  1. 01On your phone · free

    Drop the clips in

edie writes down every word you said, finds where the scenes change, and ranks your takes. It happens on your phone, for free, the moment you import, and nothing is uploaded to do it.

  2. 02Plain language

    Say what you want

“Punchy 30-second reel, captions on, cut the bit where I fumble the price.” edie reads the transcript it already made and builds the edit from it.

  3. 03One-tap undo

    Watch it land

Cuts land on the timeline while you watch, and edie says what it is doing as it goes. Everything from one request undoes together, in a single tap.

  4. 04By hand

    Finish it yourself

Then it is just a timeline. Drag a clip, nudge a caption, retime a beat. Nothing is locked, and edie never takes the edit away from you.

03Who's driving

edie makes the edit. The timeline stays yours.

If you cannot correct what an AI made, you are pulling a lever and hoping. Every change edie makes is an ordinary edit on an ordinary timeline, visible while it happens and editable afterwards.

It edits your timeline, not a copy of your video

edie makes the same kinds of edits your fingers do: trim this, split there, caption that. It never re-renders your footage into a finished file you cannot take apart again.

One request, one undo

Everything edie does for a single request undoes together. You never have to walk back twenty steps clip by clip; one tap puts the timeline back where it was.

You never switch modes

The chat bar and the timeline stay on screen together, so you can ask for a change and drag a clip in the same breath.

04Features

edie handles the tedious half. You keep the good half.

A rough cut from one sentence

Twelve clips in, a thirty-second reel out. Shot order, pacing and length are all chosen from what you actually said on camera.

Cut by what was said

“Cut the part where I mention the old price.” edie finds those words in the transcript, cuts to the exact frame, and closes the gap.

Dead air, gone

Silences, ums and false starts go in one pass, while the pauses that were doing real work stay where they are.

Captions that keep time

Timed to each word from the transcript edie already has, and styled by asking: “yellow, word-pop, bottom third.”

Music, cut to the beat

Picked from the library by mood and tempo, lined up with your cuts, and turned down automatically wherever you are talking.

The frame follows the face

Face tracking keeps your subject framed while they move — loose, medium or tight. Landscape footage recrops to 9:16, and punch-ins land where the moment does.

Caption styles, chosen by asking

Word popKaraokeCleanBold box

Colour in edie always belongs to your work: a caption ink you picked, a track you are looking at. Everything around it stays grey and out of the way.

The whole editor, and it is not a trial.

  • The full editor, by hand

For the AI, plus the tracks you need to use it well.

  • All overlay, audio and text tracks
  • 4K export
  • Every filter and transition
  • About 300 AI messages a month, within fair use

Neither plan can be bought yet. This is the pricing we intend to launch with, and it may change before the beta opens. The three promises below will not.

No watermark, on any plan.

Not on the free plan, not on a 4K export, not ever. Your video should not have to advertise our app.

You pay by the message, not by credits.

One message counts as one, however many cuts it turns into. You should never be doing sums in your head before asking for a better version.

We are not owned by a platform.

edie belongs to none of the places you post, so it has no reason to care where your video goes next.

06Questions

Before you ask.

Does it generate video?

No. edie edits the footage you already shot. It trims, splits, captions and reframes what is on your timeline, and it never invents a frame that was not in your camera roll.

Can I still edit by hand?

Always, and at the same time. The timeline and the chat bar are both on screen permanently, so you never switch between them. Anything edie does is an ordinary edit you can drag, retime or delete.

Will there be a watermark on the free plan?

No. There is no watermark on any plan, at any resolution. Making your video advertise us is not a trade we are willing to make.

Does my footage get uploaded?

Your video files stay on your phone, and transcription and scene detection run there too. When you ask edie for something, what leaves your phone is a written description of your timeline and transcript, not the footage itself.

When does it launch, and on what?

iOS first, with a TestFlight beta for people on the waitlist. Android comes after: the interface carries over, but the part that does the actual editing is built natively for each platform and has to be written again.

What happens when I run out of AI messages?

The editor keeps working exactly as it did. Only the AI pauses, until the month turns over or you upgrade. The app you were already using does not turn into a paywall.
